Welcome to the Jordanian EUMEDIS initiative Focal Point website.
This Website will be focusing on
developments taking place in the implementation phase of the EUMEDIS Program
and shall focus on Jordanian partnerships in the successful regional pilot
projects that were awarded under the Initiative’s Strand Two.
The objective of Strand Two is to
support the development of the Mediterranean scientific and technological
community through funding Regional Pilot Information Society Projects in
five thematic sectors of information namely; Healthcare, Education, Tourism
and Cultural Heritage, E-Commerce, Innovation, Research and Industry.
One hundred and twenty one projects
out of one hundred and seventy five projects proposals were eligible for
evaluation. Of those, the final number of projects chosen for funding is
twenty-six projects.
Jordan is represented in eighteen
projects out of the successful twenty-six. Jordan’s representation covers
the five thematic sectors of the Initiative through more than twenty
Jordanian scientific, academic, governmental, NGOs and medical bodies.
A number of projects have the same
Jordanian partner, while others have a number of Jordanian partners in the
same project.
The Higher Council for Science &
Technology, along with three of its affiliated scientific centres namely;
The Royal Scientific Society, the National Centre for Human Resources
Development, and the National Centre for Diabetes Endocrine & Genetics are
participating in five regional pilot projects.
Jordan University for Science &
Technology, University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, Princess Sumaya
University College for Technology, and Philadelphia University are
participating in four projects.
Official bodies like the Ministry of
Culture, the Department of Antiquities, the Department of Primary Health
Care, the Vocational Training Corporation, and Jordan Export Development
Corporation, are participating in four projects.
The Jordan Armed Forces is represented in two projects through King Hussein
Medical Centre and the Royal Jordanian Naval Forces. |
